Processing

  1. Hecto Financial sends its previous-day totals for all banks used by the institution.
  2. 000 in the common-header bank code identifies an all-bank summary.
  3. The client stores the received totals.
  4. The client independently calculates totals from its ledger.
  5. The client places its own totals in the 7100 response.
  6. If totals differ, compare transactions to identify missing or duplicate posting.

Do Not Echo the Received Totals

The response must contain totals independently calculated from the client institution's ledger. Echoing Hecto Financial's values prevents meaningful reconciliation.

  • Use one consistent transaction-date basis.
  • Keep successful and cancelled deposits as separate totals.
  • Include system cancellations in cancelled-deposit totals.
  • Count a retried message only once using its original unique key.
  • Compare masked transaction number, amount, and status rather than raw personal data.
